NEW ORLEANS –While attending the NAIC Spring 2012 National Meeting, Commissioner John D. Doak announced the creation of a new mobile phone App for the Oklahoma Insurance Department. “This App is the first ever of its kind for any insurance department and it will give Oklahoma companies, agents and consumers a new avenue in which to find resources and communicate needs,” Doak stated.
The new mobile phone App offered by the Oklahoma Insurance Department will allow consumers to research companies and agents, making sure that they are licensed to do business in the state. The App will also allow agents to check their continuing education credits and make sure they are up to date on industry news.
“My administration has always striven to meet the needs of the citizens of Oklahoma and its insurance professionals and this new innovation takes us one step closer.” stated Doak.
A highlighted feature of the new mobile phone App is the ability for consumers to download a home inventory program. This feature will allow citizens to create inventories of their possessions through photographs and assess estimated prices on those items in case of damage or theft.
The Oklahoma Insurance Department seeks ways to empower insurance consumers and make our office more accessible to the public. “I am happy that the OID can bring this App to the public and I look forward to hearing from people on this new avenue of communication.”
